FEATHERS.FEATHERS.FEATHERS.
So I picked up some books from the library with my friend Emily... all of the books we found seemed to be mainly focused on North American Indian tribes. Personally, I think this is one of the more well known tribes that people first think of and I do find it interesting. However, there has been so many trends focused around this area I'm not sure I would like my final looks to illustrate this tribe. Instead I will consider using certain elements and see if I can create something new and exciting.
Just looking at a few of my jewellery and accessories from the last year I found a number of things with feathers as designs.
So I looked through one of the book from the library, Native Arts of North America (David W. Penny), and tried to pick out patterns and colours that I could consider using.
These were the images I found most interesting:
I choose to post this image because of the complete traditional feel it expresses. The real Pocahontas.
The contrast. The shapes. The colour.
Everything about this image screams out attention. All though it isn't as details as other images I have gathered I think the shapes could be very useful and would translate well through makeup design.
These two fabric images really caught my eye because of the large amount of detail that has been put into them and the evident time and care it will have taken. Although the shapes in the image to the left would be nice to use on the face, I think I was more attracted to the colours and textures and will use these as influences instead.
I LOVE this little object. His bold design but cute smile is so interesting. I like the limited use of colour and the shapes they have used around the eyes.
Feathers. Feathers. Feathers.
I do like the use of feathers and I think I would like to take into consideration the importance of them if I was to research further into the American Indian tribe.

Clare, so many ideas....where to go to now? I think you now need to draw and paint and begin to develop your ideas on paper as well as on the body through experiments.
