There are many different examples of tattooing amongst tribes, most commonly known the Mauri influences and tribal tattoos amongst men.
We had a practical lesson where we learnt how to transfer an image from a magazine or newspaper onto the skin and then enhanced it with aqua colours and supra colours.
This is how it's done.
Step One:
Choose your image from a magazine or newspaper, making sure the paper is matte and not shine (if it's shine the image will not transfer). You can always design your own image and print it off from a laser printer/ photocopier.
Step Two:
Check the skin you will be using, if it appears oily apply a little layer of nail varnish remover directly to the skin first.
If it is normal/ dry your image will transfer without this extra layer of remover.
Step Three:
Place the image on the area of skin you have chosen face down so you can see the back of the image.
With a cotton pad rub nail varnish remover all over the back of the image being careful not to rip the image or move it around.
Step Four:
Before completely pealing the image off, check the corners and see if you need to apply more remover. If not take off the image and dispose of wet paper.
Step Five:
You will now have a printed image on the skin. This image may not be extremely detailed as some work more than others. Remember the image will print reverse so if you have text flip it first.
It is now your choice what you use to detail the image. I used water colours for mine and this is how it turned out.
